Senior Associate Briana Rivera brings nearly three decades of litigation experience across a range of civil matters, including elder abuse, employment law, and personal injury. Ms. Rivera has first-chaired or co-chaired trials in several states, including California, Louisiana, Wisconsin, and others, consistently yielding positive results for her clients. She also previously served as director and litigation consultant at a consulting firm to the Department of Justice, where she provided liability analysis and handled litigation matters.
Known for combining genuine client care with courtroom tenacity, Ms. Rivera prioritizes open communication and responsiveness while relentlessly pursuing justice for her clients. She is conversational in Spanish, allowing her to communicate effectively with her Spanish-speaking clients.
Speaking Engagements
Ms. Rivera has taught civil litigation to paralegal students at the University of San Diego and has spoken at national conferences hosted by the U.S. Department of Justice, Mealey's Nursing Home Litigation Conference, the National Citizens' Coalition for Nursing Home Reform, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
Publications
A published author, Ms. Rivera has written chapters in two litigation practice guides, “Case Assessment: Theories, Evidence and Experts”, and the first and second editions of “Nursing Home Litigation: Pretrial Practice and Trials”.
A long-time resident of San Diego, Ms. Rivera earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, with a minor in Spanish, from the University of San Diego, and went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law.
In her free time, Ms. Rivera enjoys practicing yoga, running, gardening, spending time outdoors, and traveling internationally.
